I was so shocked when I knew I had an ovarian cancer a year ago, I decided to begin my series chemo treatment right away. Dr. Bai has been a huge help to me! Before seeing her, I didn’t get a full night’s sleep for months due to hot flashes/night sweats and anxiety. I had never thought much about acupuncture or Middle Eastern medicines. My name is Susan, and my husband Bob has been a patient of Dr. Jitao Bai for the past five months. Her treatment has virtually given him back his life and I will be eternally grateful. I am writing this testimonial to help convince any new patients who may be uncertain about alternative medicine to overcome their doubts and go for it.
Before we met Dr. Bai, I had just about given up hope for my husband. He had been ill for two years and I had watched him age before my eyes as he went from a tall, strong, active and attractive man to almost an invalid within a few month’s time. He had absolutely no strength, no energy, no appetite, was losing weight rapidly, his eyes were fluorescent yellow and his skin was the color of a zombie. He also had a maddening itch all over his body, yet modern medicine could do nothing to help him.
Even with Bob’s extreme symptoms, it took many months, several different doctors, thousands of dollars and countless tests (including 28 different blood tests, a CAT scan, an ultrasound, a liver biopsy, and an ERCP) to get a diagnosis, cirrhosis of the liver and a blocked bile duct. We were stunned at the diagnosis, since Bob had not had an alcoholic drink in over thirty years, and we were devastated when the doctors told us that our only option was a liver transplant! But even if we were lucky enough to get a liver, the lifestyle they were offering us was very bleak. Bob would become a diabetic for the rest of his life, he would have to give himself insulin twice a day, and he would have to take steroids to insure that his body would not reject the new liver.
After hearing all this, and more, we were almost positive he would decline getting a liver transplant, and that Bob’s life was nearly over, so we resolved ourselves to spending as much quality time with each other as possible, and I was there to try to make him as comfortable as he could be. By now Bob was losing even more weight, and was lucky if he had ten minutes worth of energy a day. He was in constant pain and discomfort from the enlarged liver and spleen, and the constant itching was making it almost impossible for him to rest. We made up a living will and got all of our affairs in order. We thought he only had a few more months to live.
And then the beginning of our miracle happened. A friend of mine from our church called to tell me about Dr. Bai. Her husband had been a patient of Dr. Bai’s and they were impressed with how much she had helped him. I begged Bob to go see her, even if it was for only one time, and he reluctantly agreed. When we first saw Dr. Bai, she was exactly the warm, loving, caring, kind, understanding person that my friend had described. On that visit and each one since, she has been very personal and wonderful.
On that first visit, Dr. Bai was able to tell us that Bob had an enlarged liver and spleen, and also that his gall bladder was swollen. This was remarkable because the only thing we told her about was his itching and lack of energy. Of course, she could see the jaundice for herself. She took Bob’s pulses and told us that she felt that Bob’s body still had the potential to cure itself. After looking under Bob’s tongue, she told us she wanted to do acupuncture. She also told Bob he needed to cut out all fried foods, soda, and white bread. Finally, she prescribed his first herbal tea and said it would not taste too good, but it would do the job. She took my hand and said she would do her very best to help Bob and that perhaps his condition could reverse itself so a transplant would not be needed.
I am here to tell you that before our first visit to Dr. Bai, Bob was getting maybe two hours of sleep a night. But the night after the visit, he slept like a baby for the first time in months. He didn’t even have to get up to go to the bathroom! And even more remarkable, he has been sleeping soundly every night since! Dr. Bai adjusts the ingredients in Bob’s herbal tea with each visit. He also gets regular acupuncture treatments, which he loves!
Today, I am happy to report that my husband has energy through the roof, his color is back, and he has a huge appetite. His attitude and outlook on life is great now, and he is even back to work. And best of all, he no longer needs a liver transplant! We feel that through our faith, and the help of Dr. Bai, we were given a miracle. After 3-1/2 years of infertility, including one miscarriage and one life-threatening tubal pregnancy, two of the most prominent infertility specialists in Atlanta told me that I was pre-menopausal at age 36. According to these specialists, the tubal pregnancy made me almost completely infertile. I was given a 2 or 4% of chance to get pregnant because my FSH was 34 and I had too few eggs in my ovaries despite all of the infertility drugs. I refused egg donation. Therefore, I searched for holistic help. I still had some hormonal and endocrine system imbalances. It felt like something was missing, like there was an energy block of some sort. So I decided to also try acupuncture. I searched for a good acupuncturist and liked Dr. Bai’s biography and experience.
When I cam to Dr. Bai, I knew I was in the right place. Right away she was able to tell me what was wrong with me and why I was not able to get pregnant. She knew exactly which points to stimulate and what herbs to use. Six visits later (2 months) I was pregnant. She was the first one to find out. Thank you Dr. Bai for helping me conceive naturally after struggling with infertility for many years. I suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), my main symptom being anovulation. After facing fertility issues for several years, I was getting worn down—not only by the seemingly endless frustration, but also by how methodical and procedural something I thought was supposed to be so joyful had become. I finally reached a point where I was tired of the treatments and how they were making me feel physically and emotionally. I felt like I had exhausted just about all of my options in traditional medicine, and I also sensed that my body really needed a break from everything. I had read things here and there about acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine, but because I was completely unfamiliar with it, I didn’t pursue it for some time. It wasn’t until I read the book The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis that I figured that I might as well give it a chance. So, I did some research online and decided to set up a visit with Dr. Bai.
Walking into her office for the first visit, I was very nervous. Everything Dr. Bai spoke of was so unfamiliar to me. But, for the first time in a long time, I actually felt like there was truly hope for me. And, instinctually, I trusted her completely. The acupuncture, herbs, and other suggestions from Dr. Bai were completely new concepts for me. But, instead of doing what I normally would do—researching the details of everything endlessly—I decided to go into this experience with complete faith. I saw Dr. Bai regularly for months, and followed every suggestion she made—even the ones that seemed so strange to me. (We certainly had some good laughs over those things!) It didn’t take long for me to notice significant changes in my overall health and well-being. It was definitely challenging, and took a lot of persistence, but after 4 months of treatment I was surprised and thrilled to learn that I was finally pregnant!
Now, during this very healthy pregnancy I continue to work with Dr. Bai to ensure that my body and my mind are in the condition they need to be to carry and deliver a healthy baby. I believe that it was truly a blessing for me to have the opportunity to come under the care of Dr. Bai. I was referred by a friend who had recently seen Dr. Bai for a similar problem (of infertility). Last year, I was diagnosed with bilateral tubal blockage…and subsequently told that my only hope for conceiving would be to undergo an in vitro fertilization procedure. In my haste to get started on the road to motherhood, I underwent IVF without taking the time to prepare myself with acupuncture as I had been advised by Dr. Bai and my friend who referred me. Acupuncture and Dr. Bai have helped me in several ways to achieve my pregnancy. First is through the acupuncture procedure itself. Through acupuncture, I have been able to stabilize my erratic cycles and I believe my cycles have been more productive in producing eggs. More importantly I believe is that acupuncture has greatly helped my anxiety. As agreed upon with my doctors, one of my main stumbling blocks to infertility is my high levels of stress and anxiety. I was fortunate enough not to have a diagnosed infertility issue, but my partner and I were eager to get pregnant while minimizing IUI cycles. I am a critical care nurse, type A personality, work night shift, and am 34 years old, so it was suggested I begin acupuncture to calm my adrenal feedback, increase blood flow to my uterus, and thus increase our chances of conception.

I notice now, that if I do not take the digestive enzymes after especially large meals, I do experience some bloating, but no pain at all and I can generally get back on track within 24 hours.

Dr. Bai is amazing! For years I suffered from arthritis in one of my heels. I tried many forms of treatment along with pain medicine to help suppress the pain. I began to see Dr. Bai after a car accident which left me in a great deal of pain in my back and knee. Dr. Bai was able to remove all the pain from my back and my knee with electric acupuncture. I started having trouble with my back and my right leg since 2003. The situation was getting worse. The pain is unbearable to the extent that I was crippled. I received lots of shots and adjustments but no improvement. I was so depressed when I saw Dr.Bai. The acupuncture was not working in the beginning, but after several treatments, I begin to feel better, my lower back pain improved, my leg pain went away, and I was able to walk strait. Now I still have some pain, but it is minimal and I am walking like a normal person.

I have had daily chronic tension headaches of “unknown origin” for the last 8 years. I had been taking daily prophylactic medication to prevent them, but once a headache came on, nothing helped. In the last six months, even the daily medication was not preventing the headaches and I was at my wit’s end. A friend referred me to Dr. Bai because of her holistic approach to wellness.
